Closet drawer base cabinet installed in a walk-in closet

Everything people ask before they order.

Cost, lead time, materials, depths, warranty and service area — answered directly, first sentence first.

  • How much does a custom closet cost in Atlanta?

A reach-in closet in the ClosetX program typically runs $1,200–$3,000 installed, and a walk-in with an island typically runs $4,500–$12,000 installed. The two biggest cost drivers are linear feet of cabinet and how much of the run is drawers rather than shelving. We quote a fixed price from a dimensioned drawing — there are no allowances that move at install.

  • How long does a custom closet take from order to install?

Four to six weeks in total for most projects: two to four business days for the design and quote, then two to four weeks to build, then one to two days on site. Reach-in closets are usually installed in a single day.

  • What are ClosetX closets made of?

Three-quarter-inch cabinet-grade melamine panel with heat-applied matched edge banding, drilled on a 32 mm system hole pattern. Drawers run on full-extension soft-close slides and doors hang on concealed soft-close hinges.

  • Is melamine better than wood for a closet?

For closet interiors, yes, in the ways that matter. Melamine is dimensionally stable across seasons, so shelves stay flat under folded weight; the surface is sealed against moisture and abrasion; and it costs a fraction of veneered plywood for the same span. Solid wood is the better choice for a visible face frame or a piece of furniture, not for a 36-inch shelf that has to carry sweaters for twenty years.

  • What depth should a closet be?

24 inches for anything you hang, 15 inches for anything you shelve. A standard hanger is about 17 inches wide, so at 15 inches deep garments have to sit at an angle and sleeves rub the door. For folded goods and shoes, 15 inches keeps everything within reach instead of hiding it at the back.

  • Do you install, or do you only supply the components?

Both. Most ClosetX projects are supplied and installed by our own crew. We also supply components to builders, remodelers and designers through our trade program, with the same drawings and SKU list.

  • What is the standard closet cabinet height?

84 inches for every tower in the program. Under a 96-inch ceiling, a 12-inch ceiling cabinet closes the remaining gap so the run finishes flush at the top with no dust shelf.

  • Can closet panels be matched to my kitchen cabinets?

Yes, within the wood-grain finishes. Downy Wood Grain is available on both closet and kitchen cabinet panel, so a closet run and a kitchen can be specified as a matched pair rather than two finishes that nearly agree.

  • How much space do I need for a closet island?

A room at least 11 feet wide. A 60-inch island plus 24-inch-deep cabinets on both walls leaves 36-inch walkways in an 11-foot room; at 12 feet those walkways become a comfortable 42 inches. Below 36 inches, island drawers and cabinet doors start to collide.

  • Do the shelves move after installation?

Yes. Every tower carries a full-height 32 mm system hole pattern, so shelf heights are reset by lifting the shelf and moving four pins. No tools and no drilling.

  • Do you offer LED lighting inside the closet?

Yes. Recessed LED strip can be run into shelf edges, cabinet tops and glass display shelves, in warm or neutral white, dimmable, with an optional door-activated switch. It is specified at design stage because it changes the panel routing.

  • What areas around Atlanta do you serve?

ClosetX is based at 2999 Pacific Dr Ste C, Norcross, GA 30071 and serves metro Atlanta — including Norcross, Peachtree Corners, Duluth, Johns Creek, Alpharetta, Roswell, Suwanee, Buford, Lawrenceville, Marietta, Sandy Springs and Atlanta itself.

  • Do you offer a warranty?

Yes. The exact cover and its duration are set out in writing with your quote, so you have the terms in hand before anything is ordered. Ask us and we will send them with the component list.

  • Can I get a quote from my own drawings?

Yes. Send dimensioned plans or elevations to info@closetx.com and we will return a component list and fixed quote without a site visit. We still recommend a field measure before anything is cut.
