How Much Does a Custom Closet Cost in Atlanta?
Real installed ranges for reach-in and walk-in closets in metro Atlanta, what actually drives the number, and where the money goes.
A reach-in closet in the ClosetX program typically runs $1,200–$3,000 installed, and a walk-in with an island typically runs $4,500–$12,000 installed.
Most closet companies will not publish a number. We will, because the first question every homeowner asks deserves an answer before a salesperson is standing in the bedroom. The ranges above are what our projects actually land at across metro Atlanta, installed and finished, with no allowances hiding in the fine print.
What drives the price
Two things move a closet quote more than anything else: linear feet of cabinet, and how much of that run is drawers. Everything else — finish colour, door style, lighting — changes the number far less than people expect.
- Linear feet. A 6-foot reach-in wall and a 22-foot walk-in perimeter are different projects before a single option is chosen.
- Drawer count. A drawer stack costs several times what the same width of open shelving costs. Soft-close runners, boxes and fronts are all real material.
- Depth. A 24-inch deep tower uses noticeably more panel than a 15-inch one, and needs the floor space to justify it.
- Doors. Leaving a run open is the cheapest finish there is. Slab doors add moderate cost; framed glass adds the most.
- Lighting. LED strip inside a glass tower is a small line item on its own, but it usually arrives attached to a glass tower.

Why a fixed price and not an estimate
We quote from a dimensioned drawing, not from a walkthrough. The measure covers the opening, the ceiling height, the floor fall and every obstruction — outlets, vents, baseboard, a door that swings in. Those are the things that turn an estimate into a change order on install day, so we find them first and price them in.
What a closet costs to run badly
The cheapest closet is the one that gets replaced in four years. Wire shelving sags under folded knits and leaves ridges in everything. Particle-core shelving at 36 inches of unsupported span will bow. A 3/4-inch cabinet-grade melamine shelf with an edge-banded front face holds its line, which is why the whole ClosetX program is built from it.
Where the ranges come from
| Project | Typical installed range | What that usually includes |
|---|---|---|
| Reach-in bedroom closet | $1,200 – $3,000 | One or two towers, a hanging bay, a few adjustable shelves |
| Walk-in without island | $3,500 – $7,000 | Perimeter run, double hanging, one drawer stack |
| Walk-in with island | $4,500 – $12,000 | Perimeter run, 60-inch drawer island, lit glass bay |
| Laundry or pantry wall | $1,800 – $5,000 | Bridge cabinets, tall unit, counter run |
If your project sits outside these ranges we will say so at the measure, not at the end.
Quick answers
About this topic.
Do you charge for the measure and the drawing?
No. The in-home measure, the dimensioned drawing and the fixed quote are free and carry no obligation.
Is the price per linear foot?
We quote the whole project, not a per-foot rate. Per-foot pricing hides the drawer count, which is the part that actually moves the number.
Can I phase the work to spread the cost?
Yes. The component program is modular, so a walk-in can be installed as a perimeter run now and an island later without rework.
